Saint paddy's day celebration for Queen's Royal Hussars
The Duke of Edinburgh celebrated St Patrick's Day in Germany with soldiers of The Queen's Royal Hussars (QRH).
Prince Philip, the regiment's Colonel-in-Chief presented sprigs of shamrock to 200 former servicemen.
The Prince had also visited the Queen's Royal Hussars in Basra in November 2006, when the regiment was based in southern Iraq as part of the 20th Armoured Brigade.
Old Comrade's Association regimental secretary Retired Major David Innes-Lumsden said: "We're very lucky to have Prince Philip over here with us. He has been the Colonel-in-Chief since the 1950s and just travels everywhere with us - he was even in Basra in 2006.
"He's a real star and the boys absolutely love him. He just chats away to them. He's a real 'old comrade' himself."
The Queen's Royal Irish Hussars and The Queen's Own Hussars amalgamated in 1993 to form the QRH, the senior light cavalry regiment of the British Army.
