A Soldiers experience in the State Opening of Parliament ceremony
10th December 2008
For many, the State Opening of Parliament ceremony, held last Wednesday, is one of the most colorful events in the London ceremonial calendar...
As well as attracting huge amounts of media attention, the ceremony can also be a daunting experience for the soldiers of the Royal Armoured Corps, who have been traditionally involved in escorting the queen through Windsor Park during the ceremony for many years.
Like
most, local soldier Timothy Puddifoot has taken the ceremony in his stride,
whilst still maintaining a strong sense of honor for the experience.
Lance Corporal of Horse Timothy Puddifoot is a member of the Household Cavalry
(a regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps), and is a fully qualified riding
instructor.
He is also a qualified military tailor, and a key member of the regiment's
world renowned display team, The Musical Ride.

Timothy has represented the regiment at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, and
recently won a silver medal at the army cross country championships. He
competes in carriage driving events, and hopes to take part in the next
Olympics.
There are plans for Timothy to move across to the armoured regiment based in
Windsor, and he hopes to serve in Afghanistan and Iraq.
